Online Safety

Being online is an integral part of children and young people’s lives. Social media, online games, websites and apps can all be accessed through mobile phones, computers, laptops and tablets – all of which form a part of children and young people’s online world.
The internet and online technology provide new opportunities for young people’s learning and growth, but it can also expose them to new types of risks. This opens up a whole new world of things to be aware of, in particular the need to ensure children's safe and responsible use of technology.
Online safety is an important part of keeping children safe at South View Community Primary School. We have extensive security measures in place in school, which are monitored both internally and externally, to help safeguard pupils from potential dangers or unsuitable material. Any online safety incidents are recorded and managed. Online safety is taught to all pupils explaining and demonstrating how to stay safe and behave appropriately online.
We can only be successful in keeping children safe online if we work with parents to ensure the online safety message is consistent. Therefore, it is equally important that parents speak to their children about how they can keep safe and behave appropriately online.
