Extra Curricular Activities Provision

The wider the range of possibilities we offer children, the more intense will be their motivations and the richer their experiences.

Loris Malaguzzi

Whilst our classrooms teaching is vital for our children, we also appreciate the importance of extra-curricular activities which can often be an aspect of school we remember fondly as adults.  At South View, we aim to develop the whole child; the additional activities, clubs and experiences we offer are considered important aspects of our work.

Playground Learning

A selection of Year 6 children take on the role of EYFS and Key Stage 1 Play Leaders. They are responsible for organising and leading games and activities which encourage participation during lunchtime.

Sports Teams

Each year, in Key Stage 2, South View have a number of sports teams that have represented our school in local competitions:

  • Football
  • Netball
  • Athletics
  • Kwik Cricket
  • Cross-country running
  • Golf
  • Dance
Visitors to school

We welcome visitors to school to support the children's learning. We have a regular number of volunteer reading mentors who read with a number of children on a weekly basis. South View aims to include visitors who will enhance the curriculum by holding curriculum days, such as 'Fire of London Day' or 'Celebrating Hinduism' where children not only learn about religious aspects, but are immersed into the culture, learn to dance and experience wearing a bindi.

Please look at the Children's page section and your child's year group gallery for pictures of the events they take part in.

Every year, we celebrate Grandparents, Mother and Father's Days by hosting breakfasts, which provides an opportunity for relatives to visit the school and share with the children.

Educational Visits

To support their learning in class, children will attend educational visits. Below are some of the places we have visited.

  • Houses of Parliament
  • Leicester Space centre
  • Caythorpe PGL
  • Natural History Museum
  • Beamish Museum
  • Peterborough Cathedral

School Clubs

South View aims to provide a varied extra-curricular programme for all pupils who wish to participate. Extra-curricular activities are after school from 3.15 pm - 4.15pm.

Extra-curricular clubs vary from term to term, and a timetable (also attached below) is sent to parents at the beginning of each half-term giving details of all clubs available for that half-term. Information is also provided on how to sign up for the club of your child’s choice on our online booking system, via ParentMail.

Additional clubs are run by outside providers and are booked directly with them. The booking details are included in our attachments at the bottom of the page.

Please note that children are expected to behave politely and sensibly, as they are in school. In the case of serious misbehaviour, non-payment or persistent late collection, the school reserves the right to withdraw access to the provision.
